Today we're going to change the Starter Motor on a Hatz 1D42S Engine. Before accessing the starter motor you will need to remove the fastening plate. Unscrew the two screws located at the bottom of the plate. Then unfasten the top screw using a socket spanner, the plate will now be partially freed. Take note where the Starter and Charger wires are connected, as these will have to be returned to the same place. Unscrew the nuts on the terminal to further release the wires. Now you need to move the two 18mm screws and brackets using a socket spanner. You will now be able to release the starter motor. Starters burn out very easily, as there are many components. Therefore checking this part is vital to make sure that your engine lasts a long time. Now return the new start motor, and place the bracket back and tighten the nuts with a socket spanner. Place the wires back in the original place, and secure with the nuts. When this is done you can now return the plate back onto the engine. Fasten the three screws back with a socket spanner. That's how you replace the starter motor on a Hatz 1D42S Engine.
