Billy Goat Eats Anything || 1966
In 1966, a new vacuum entered the UK market from an American company called Billy Goat. This innovation promised to revolutionise the industry with a vacuum designed to clean large areas quickly, reach difficult spots, pulverise leaves, and even handle water. The excitement around this product is evident in the six-page advertisement below.
Billy Goat started in 1967 under Clipper Manufacturing and became independent in 1969. They remained independent until 2015 when they were acquired by Briggs & Stratton Corp. Today, they continue to produce innovative products, including vacuums and lawnmowers. As shown in the advert, Billy Goat aims to make their products exciting and to 'take the chore out of chores,' consistently striving for innovation in both their products and advertisements.
This leaflet dates back to 1966 when Wyn was still at Reliant Plant Services in Walsall Wood, making it over 50 years old! Let us know if you're interested in more vintage advertisements; we have an archive full of booklets that may not have been seen for years! (Click the images to enlarge)
