What is the difference between a Dee Shackle and a Bow Shackle?

The main differences between a Dee Shackle and a Bow Shackle are their shape, pin style and typical applications.

A Dee Shackle has a narrow “D” or “U” shape with straight sides and a rounded pin. A Bow Shackle has a wider, rounded “O” shape, allowing more movement. The pin is usually straight and secured with a screw pin or bolt.

Dee Shackles are ideal for straight-line lifting, connecting chains or attaching ropes and cables. Bow Shackles are better suited where the load may shift, pivot or require a greater range of motion due to their wider loop.
