Today we're going to replace the rope in a recoil starter on a Stihl TS410/TS420 Disc Cutter. Firstly free the rope from the rewind starter. You can now free the rope by pulling carefully. Get your new rope, with safety precautions, light both ends of the rope to seal. To attach the handle back, thread the end of the rope through the hole and tie into a tight knot.Thread through the rope in the aligned holes and pull through with a pick. Secure by tying in a tight knot. To tighten the rope so it has more tension, place the rope into the slot and wind anticlockwise. This was roughly done 6 times and can be easily adjusted. Keep in mind, if there is too much tension this can have a damaging effect on the spring. Test the recoil to make sure that it has the correct tension. That's how you replace the rope in a recoil starter on a Stihl TS410/TS420 Disc Cutter.
