Description
Overview:
These split pins are straight, two-prong retaining fasteners used to lock nuts, clevis pins and other hardware in place. Made from zinc‐plated steel for added corrosion resistance, they are suitable for indoor and outdoor use. Each pin measures 3/16" diameter (4.76 mm) and 3" long (76.2 mm), a common size for general maintenance across construction equipment, agricultural implements, garden machinery and light automotive tasks. The eye at one end allows easy insertion through a pre‐drilled hole; the legs are then bent back to secure the joint. Supplied in a practical 100‐pack, they provide a reliable, cost‐effective way to prevent loosening from vibration and keep linkages, axles and fittings secure during everyday service.
Key Features:
- Zinc‐plated steel for good corrosion resistance in typical UK site and garden conditions
- Size: 3/16" diameter (4.76 mm) x 3" length (76.2 mm) for versatile, general‐purpose use
- Secure retention: split legs deform to lock castellated nuts, clevis pins and shafts
- Easy to fit with basic hand tools; bend legs back with pliers for a positive hold
- Eye/loop head helps guide the pin and resists pull‐through under load
- Suitable for machinery subject to vibration where secondary locking is required
- Bright silver finish aids visibility during fitting and inspection
- Supplied in a 100‐pack for routine maintenance and spares management
- Robust wire section resists shear and fatigue in typical service
- Common practice is single‐use replacement after removal to maintain security
Typical Applications:
Securing castellated nuts on wheel hubs, axles and linkages; retaining clevis pins on control rods, mower decks and brake linkages; hitch and drawbar pins on trailers and agricultural kit; general assembly on construction plant, compressors, generators and garden machinery where a dependable mechanical lock is needed.
