Common Troubleshooting Issues for the Belle Minimix 150 Mixer
The Belle Minimix 150 is widely used for construction projects across the UK. While its design has remained largely unchanged since production began, issues can arise with regular use. Identifying these problems quickly can save time and money during repairs.
Here are some common issues you may encounter with the Belle Minimix 150, along with troubleshooting tips to fix them.
Snapped Belt
A snapped belt is one of the most frequent issues. It’s easy to spot: the motor runs, but the drum doesn’t spin. This usually happens due to wear from constant use. Keeping a few spare belts on hand can prevent downtime.
The Machine Runs then Stops
If your Belle Minimix 150 starts when switched on but stops shortly after, the switch and capacitor are likely functioning. A common culprit is a broken or missing motor fan. This fan cools the motor, and if damaged, the motor can overheat and shut down. Replacement fans are available separately.
Blown Capacitor
Holding the start button too long can blow the capacitor. If the mixer won’t start and you don’t hear a buzz when pressing the start button, the issue could be the switch or capacitor. To diagnose, try spinning the drum in the correct direction while pressing the start button. If it starts, the capacitor likely needs replacing.
Broken Switch
If spinning the drum doesn’t get the mixer running, the switch may be faulty. Test the switch to determine if it needs replacing before considering more expensive repairs.
Gearbox
The gearbox can also cause issues with the Belle Minimix 150. Without regular servicing and greasing (EP90 oil is available here), the gears may wear down due to friction. A grating noise indicates wear. Address any abnormal sounds promptly to avoid further damage. In severe cases, the mixer motor may run, but the drum won’t spin, often due to worn worm and drive gears that no longer engage.
These troubleshooting tips can help, but they may not resolve every issue, as each machine and problem can vary.
