Today we are going to change the Exhaust on a Stihl FS 56 Brushcutter. Use a 14mm Torx Spanner to remove the screw on the air filter cover. Remove the air filter. Unscrew the two nuts located inside the filter housing with an 8mm hex socket spanner. Detach the hose connected to the back of the filter housing, this will allow access to the carburettor. You can also remove the recoil starter for easier access. Disconnect the throttle cable and two fuel hose to allow removal of the carburettor. Using a torx spanner remove one screw from the top of the shroud and remove the seven from the engine housing. The shroud can now be removed giving access to the engine. Remove the four screws securing the engine from the engine housing Disconnect the lead on the ignition module before lifting the engine. Undo the 2 screws on the exhaust with a torx spanner. The Exhaust should now come free. Please note, when replacing the exhaust it is best practice to replace the exhaust gasket. Replace the exhaust and secure the two screws with a torx spanner. Secure the engine back onto the engine housing with the four screws and a torx spanner and reconnect the ignition module lead. Using a torx spanner reattach the shroud and engine housing with 8 screws. Fit the Carburettor, reattach the two fuel hoses and throttle cable. Put the filter housing back into place and secure the two nuts with an 8mm hex socket spanner. Place the air filter back onto the filter housing with the arrow pointing upwards. Use a 14mm Torx Spanner to screw the air filter cover back in place. That is how you change the Exhaust on a Stihl FS 56 Brushcutter.
