Today we are going to change the Ignition module or the Armature on a Briggs and Stratton 093j02 engine for a Viking MB 253.1 T Lawnmower. Firstly remove the top cover using an 8mm socket. Unplug the spark plug boot. Release the stop wire. Now remove the two screws using a 1/4” 6mm socket. You can now release the ignition module. Place the new ignition module into position and loosely tighten it with the screws so you can set the gap. (The gap should be .006 - .014 Inches (0.15-0.36mm) using a setting gauge. Now the setting gauge is in place, tighten the screws, then remove the tool. Return the stop wire and then secure the spark plug boot. Then replace the cover and secure. That's how you change the ignition module on a briggs and stratton engine for the Viking Lawn Mower.
