The Role of Engine Oil in a Stihl 2-Stroke Engine
Quality engine oil is essential for the longevity of your engine. Mix engine oil with fuel at a ratio of 1 part oil to 50 parts fuel, and always opt for premium oil.
A clean engine produces more power. The oil lubricates moving parts and prevents harmful deposits from forming in the exhaust, ensuring exhaust gases flow freely.
With components moving at speeds up to 15,000 rpm, oil reduces wear by providing necessary lubrication. This highlights the importance of using high-quality engine oil.
For optimal spark plug performance, the oil must burn cleanly. Protecting the spark plug is crucial, as it ignites the fuel and oil mixture.
2-Stroke engine oils must perform well across various engine types, which can differ significantly in temperature and rpm.
High-quality engine oil prevents carbon build-up around the valves of 4-Mix petrol engines. Always use STIHL HP Super or HP Ultra oil with STIHL 4-MIX engines to avoid poor performance.
Engine oils also protect against corrosion and keep the crankcase clean, allowing the fuel mix to circulate and components to move freely.
Stihl offers three types of oil:

All these oils are compatible with E10 fuel. Since E10 has a short shelf life, Stihl recommends mixing 2-stroke fuel in small amounts to avoid waste. They also offer 'Stihl Motomix', a pre-mixed, premium alkylate fuel combined with HP Ultra oil for long-lasting performance.
