To calculate the correct 2-stroke fuel mix, divide 1000 by the mix ratio to get the required millilitres of oil per litre of fuel. Multiply this figure by the number of litres of petrol to determine the total amount of oil needed.

Using a good quality engine oil helps lubricate moving parts and prevents the build-up of harmful deposits in the exhaust system.

For Stihl 2-stroke engines, it is common practice to mix fuel at a ratio of 1 part oil to 50 parts fuel to ensure correct lubrication and engine performance.
