To ensure you get the correct chainsaw chain, you need to measure the pitch, the gauge and the drive links.
Sometimes the pitch is displayed on the guide bar but if you can't find it, the pitch can be calculated.
How to calculate the pitch on a chainsaw chain = Distance between any 3 rivets on the chain, divided by two.
The width of the drive link is the gauge. The gauge measures the thickness of drive links and is usually found on the chainsaw (often on the guide bar). It's important to match the right gauge to the chainsaw so that the chain fits properly into the guide bar.
To know the correct amount, the individual links need to be counted. The drive link count will correlate to the overall size of the bar (this can differ by manufacturer).
The length is from the bar emerging from the casing, to the tip of the bar.
