Overview:
This cylinder head is a replacement top end component for JAP 4/2 petrol engines, used widely on vintage industrial and horticultural machinery. Built with durable cast construction and a finned design to aid air‐cooling, it forms the upper part of the combustion chamber, helping maintain compression and manage heat. The part is unused old stock, making it suitable for period‐correct restorations where authenticity of form and function matters. It is intended to restore reliable running on engines labelled JAP 4/2 or JAP42. The head provides a clean sealing face for the gasket (not supplied) and correct location for the spark plug boss, supporting smooth starting and consistent performance when paired with a sound barrel, piston, and valve or porting arrangement as originally specified for the 4/2 series.
