Description
Overview:
The Scotchlock Tap Connectors, Red - 905, are insulation displacement connectors (IDC) designed to make fast, secure branch connections in low‐voltage electrical looms. Built with a durable plastic housing and an internal metal contact, they pierce the insulation to join wires without stripping the conductor. Suitable for wire sizes from 0.8 to 2.0 mm2, they are widely used on automotive, plant, and garden machinery wiring, as well as general electrical installations. Each connector closes firmly with standard pliers and features a positive latch to hold the splice in place. Supplied in a pack of 100, these red, size‐coded connectors help keep repairs and modifications neat and consistent across machinery such as ride‐on mowers, compact equipment, generators, lighting rigs, and trailers.
Key Features:
- Accepts 0.8-2.0 mm2 conductors for broad wiring coverage
- Pack of 100 for workshop, fleet, or site maintenance use
- IDC design makes a branch connection without stripping the main wire
- Quick to install with standard pliers for time‐efficient repairs
- Red (905) colour coding aids size identification in mixed assortments
- Hinged locking cover provides a secure, tidy splice on looms
- Compact form factor fits tight harness spaces and junction points
- Suitable for most PVC‐insulated stranded wires used on vehicles and machinery
- Helps maintain circuit integrity by avoiding cuts to the main run wire
- Consistent, repeatable results for both DIY and trade users
Typical Applications:
Creating take‐offs in existing wiring looms on garden machinery, small plant, ATVs, vans, trailers, generators, pumps, lighting bars, and beacons. Ideal for adding accessories, repairs, or diagnostic jump points without cutting the main conductor. Useful for quick field fixes, fleet maintenance, and workshop harness work where downtime needs to be kept low.
Also known as:
IDC tap, quick splice, wire tap, T‐tap connector, snap splice, tap splice, inline tap, piggyback splice, Scotchlok‐type connector (red). These terms all refer to connectors that make a branch connection by displacing insulation around the conductor.
