Overview:
Dixon-Bate universal coupling combining a 50mm tow ball and a 32mm diameter pin in a single unit, allowing one vehicle to tow ball-hitched trailers and towing eye trailers without changing hardware. Ball and pin assembly are forged steel, finished in zinc with clear passivate. Four-bolt mounting on 85 x 44mm fixing centres taking 1/2" UNF bolts. Classified A50-X/S and built to EU standard 94/20EC and UN/ECE Regulation 55. Supplied with the 32mm pin and safety attachment. Mounting bolts are not included and are ordered separately as an imperial or metric bolt pack.

Towing Capacity:
The ball and the pin carry separate ratings: 3500kg through the 50mm ball, 5000kg through the 32mm pin.
Maximum braked trailer weight derived from the D-value:
- Behind a 7,500kg vehicle: 5,440kg
- Behind an 18,000kg vehicle: 3,820kg
These are coupling limits only. The lowest of the coupling limit, the towing vehicle's plated towing limit, the trailer's gross weight and the driver's licence entitlement applies. Centre-axle trailers are rated on Dc and V-value rather than D.
Typical Applications:
Heavy mixed towing on commercial vehicles, agricultural tractors and plant transport where both British standard towing eyes and 50mm ball couplings are in use across the trailer fleet.
