Jockey Wheels

Jockey wheels support the front of a trailer when it is disconnected from the towing vehicle. They make it easier to position, hitch and manoeuvre trailers around yards, workshops, storage areas and loading spaces.

When choosing a jockey wheel, check the tube diameter, rated nose weight, wheel size and working height. The jockey wheel should be suitable for the trailer’s actual vertical load at the coupling, rather than being selected by trailer size alone.

34mm jockey wheels are generally suited to smaller, lighter trailers, while 42mm and 48mm jockey wheels are used for medium and heavier-duty applications. 60mm jockey wheels are designed for more demanding trailer, plant and commercial use.

Solid wheels are a practical choice for hard surfaces and avoid punctures, while pneumatic wheels can make manoeuvring easier on uneven or softer ground. Always make sure the jockey wheel, clamp and replacement wheel are compatible before fitting.
